Through the music of three renowned contemporary composers\, John Cage\, John Adams and Ezio Bosso\, intricate piano compositions intertwine with delicate choreographies on a miniature scale. This class invites you to become an explorer\, to investigate how movement\, breath\, mindful sensing and touch\, can help you explore dancing from within. We will introduce fundamentals for floorwork taking inspiration from concepts of the developmental movement patterns to support the development of dance technique\, alongside improvisation and partner work to unleash the expressive dancer in you! \n  \nJulienne Schembri is an independent artist working in the community and a movement educator. She holds a Masters from The London Contemporary Dance School\, and is a certified movement analyst through Laban Bartenieff Movement Analyst with EMOVE Institute in The Netherlands\, where she currently teaches as an assistant on their modular training programs. Independently\, she works as a somatic movement educator to create communities of people moving together. Zoe started her professional dance journey with ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a full-time dancer. As a freelancer her roles range from dancer\, performer\, maker\, educator\, rehearsal and movement director and seamstress. She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. During Zoe’s open sessions we move away from focusing on aesthetics and learning stylised movement and move more towards finding and investing in how each of our bodies like to move. Once a month for a week or more\, local and international professional dance artists are invited to join the company’s morning practice. Techniques explored are ballet\, contemporary\, and somatic practice. Classes are suitable for young dancers and established practitioners alike. ŻfinMalta provides an open and inclusive space where participants can further develop their professional practice\, make connections\, and experience life inside Malta’s National Dance Company.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]With a focus on a musicality and coordination\, Markéta’s ballet classes are designed for participants to tap into their feel good factor\, warming up to their day with enjoyment and confidence.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]A native of Ostrava\, Markéta graduated from the local Janáček Conservatory and subsequently worked at the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre\, where she became a soloist in 2010. She danced in many leading ballets\, such as The Nutcracker\, Cinderella and Swan Lake and received a nomination for the Thalia Award for her role as Odette/Odilia.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text] \n\n\nSince 2015\, she has been engaged in Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo\, where under the direction of the director and choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot\, she danced in Le Songe\, La Belle\, Cendrillon\, Casse-Noisette Compagnie\, La Mégère apprivoisée\,  Altro Canto\, Choré or in the works of other world-famous choreographers\, e.g. Jiří Kylián and Mats Ek. As from September 2020 Markéta has been based in Prague as a freelance dancer and ballet teacher\, regularly engaged in the Czech Republic\, whilst also working with Ballet Am Rhein\, Ballet National du Rhin and Brussels City Ballet. Amongst these activities\, Markéta has taken up the role of ballet master at DJKT. \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][vc_column_text] \nCost\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]€10 drop-in \n€28 Weekly package (5 classes) *special price as class on Wednesday 1st November (world ballet day) is free![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]\n		More information\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”60px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
