Open Rehearsals take audiences behind the scenes of ŻfinMalta productions during the creation and rehearsal process. This is a rare opportunity to preview the work before opening night and experience the process of what goes into making a dance production for stage.
‘Cantata’ Open Rehearsal
Saturday 20th January 2024, 14:00
ŻfinMalta Studios, Valletta
On the 20th January, join us at ŻfinMalta studios for a behind-the-scenes rehearsal of ‘Cantata’ by the inimitable Mauro Bigonzetti. This Open Rehearsal is led by ZfinMalta rehearsal director Brenda Lee Grech and features Vincenzo Capezzuto, assistant to choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti and former soloist of Aterballetto, Teatro San Carlo and Ballet Argentino.
‘Cantata’ forms part of our incredible ŻfinDays Double Bill which premieres this February, and is Bigonzetti’s personal quest to read and recover the traditional musical heritage of Southern Italy. The passionate and visceral gestures of the choreography are evocative of its wild, Mediterranean origins.
Don’t miss this opportunity to catch the dancers of ŻfinMalta National Dance Company in rehearsal with Vincenzo Capezzuto, and gain insights into the re-staging process of this iconic work, as well as a chance to speak to those involved in the artistic team.
‘Cantata’ is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute of Valletta.
Entrance to this Open Rehearsal is €5 if you haven’t booked your ticket to the performance.
If you already have your ŻfinDays 2024 ticket, entrance to this rehearsal is free! RSVP via this form to let us know you will be attending: https://forms.gle/oJQExFZZPyPY7cch7
