Zoe started her professional dance journey with ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a full-time dancer. As a freelancer her roles range from dancer\, performer\, maker\, educator\, rehearsal and movement director and seamstress. She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. During Zoe’s open sessions we move away from focusing on aesthetics and learning stylised movement and move more towards finding and investing in how each of our bodies like to move. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css=”.vc_custom_1587042757740{padding-bottom: 7% !important;}” z_index=””][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nContemporary Intensive with Elena Ciavarella (15+ years/adults)\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”]\n		Book Now\n\n[vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]Providing an intensive experience for young people\, ŻfinMalta is hosting Elena Ciavarella to lead a contemporary workshop for dance practitioners from 10 – 14 years old as well as 15 years and over.   \n  \nThis intensive is aimed at dance students and young adults looking for immersion into new dance techniques and vocabulary.  \n  \nŻfinMalta Dance Intensives are curated as themed experiences\, focusing on a particular movement technique and exposing participants to guest teachers commissioned who contribute to company dancers’ training.    \n  \nElena’s intensive is an inclusive workshop targeted towards mixed ability participants.  Participants with and without previous dance training are welcome to join in the ŻfinMalta intensive led by Elena\, which is based on floor work and leaps from a somatic starting point.    \n  \nThe training provided by Elena within this intensive is inspired by the Piso movil system\, some flying low techniques and makes use of the notions of the spiral\, pushing\, pulling with the overarching aim of reaching the vertical from the ground.    \n  \n“Three dimensions that are explored: the floor\, partnering and the air.”  \n  \nElena Ciavarella is also leading ŻfinMalta open company classes in which participants of 18 years and over may join the company dancers in their morning class.  On the other hand\, this intensive experience offers an exclusive\, intimate and more focused evening programme for all 11 – 14 year olds to experience Elena’s training as well as all 15+ and adults who cannot make the morning classes.  [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Elena Ciavarella \nElena Ciavarella started his training in contemporary dance in France\, at the CNR of Boulogne Billancourt\, In 2001 she attended the professional course of Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti in Italy. She obtained a degree in Cinema and Performing Arts at the University of Pisa in 2003\, before moving to France where she obtained the DE (dance teacher national degree) in contemporary dance at the CND in Lyon in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Development of international artistic and cultural projects at the University of Lyon2.  \n  \nShe danced for several companies in France and Italy: Opus ballet\, Rome Opera\, cie Faizal Zeghoudi\, cie Redha\, cie Eva Luna\, Collectif Dynamo\, cie Ezio Schiavulli\, Teatro all’improvviso\, cie Arabesque\, cie Nadège Cabisidan…  \n  \n In 2008 she founded Collettivo Unico\, with which she carried out numerous research projects in collaboration with international companies such as Delfos (Mexico)\, Cortocinesis (Colombia)\, Adarte (Italy)\, Cie Ezio Schiavulli (Italy). Zoe started her professional dance journey with ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a full-time dancer. As a freelancer her roles range from dancer\, performer\, maker\, educator\, rehearsal and movement director and seamstress. She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. During Zoe’s open sessions we move away from focusing on aesthetics and learning stylised movement and move more towards finding and investing in how each of our bodies like to move. Once a month for a week or more\, local and international professional dance artists are invited to join the company’s morning practice. Techniques explored are ballet\, contemporary\, and somatic practice. Classes are suitable for young dancers and established practitioners alike. During sessions with Elena three dimensions will be explored: the floor\, partnering and the air.  \n  \n  \nAbout Elena Ciavarella  \n  \nElena Ciavarella started training in contemporary dance in France\, at the CNR of Boulogne Billancourt\, In 2001 she attended the professional course of Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti in Italy. She obtained a degree in Cinema and Performing Arts at the University of Pisa in 2003\, before moving to France where she obtained the DE (dance teacher national degree) in contemporary dance at the CND in Lyon in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Development of international artistic and cultural projects at the University of Lyon2.  \n  \nShe danced for several companies in France and Italy: Opus ballet\, Rome Opera\, cie Faizal Zeghoudi\, cie Redha\, cie Eva Luna\, Collectif Dynamo\, cie Ezio Schiavulli\, Teatro all’improvviso\, cie Arabesque\, cie Nadège Cabisidan…  \n  \nIn 2008 she founded Collettivo Unico\, with which she carried out numerous research projects in collaboration with international companies such as Delfos (Mexico)\, Cortocinesis (Colombia)\, Adarte (Italy)\, Cie Ezio Schiavulli (Italy). She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. ŻfinMalta is hosting Nico Monaco to lead a contemporary workshop for dance practitioners from 15 years and over. \n  \nThis intensive is aimed at students of dance over 15 years old looking for an immersion into new techniques and vocabulary as well as adults who want to get physical. \n  \nŻfinMalta Dance Intensives are curated as themed experiences\, focusing on a particular movement technique and exposing participants to guest teachers commissioned who contribute to company dancers’ training.   \n  \nIn his workshops\, Nico draws from his experience with renowned choreographers the tools that allow the dancers to increase the knowledge of their bodies and their movement by combining technical exercises and guided somatic improvisation. \n [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Nico Monaco\n  \nNicola Monaco trained in Italy where he attended the professional course of Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti. In 2003 he worked for the award-winning Dutch dance company Emio Greco/PC\, where he stayed until 2008. In 2009\, he worked with choreographers such as Akram Khan\, Gregory Maquoma\, Tom Dale\, The Featherstonehaughs and Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company. In 2012 he was appointed as rehearsal director for Zfin Malta Dance Ensemble. \n  \nIn 2013\, Nicola joined Akram Khan Dance company as dancer and rehearsal director for productions Itmoi\, Kaash and Xenos. In 2017\, Nicola received the official qualification to teach the Double Skin/Double Mind methodology of ICK/Amsterdam (Emio Greco/PC). In 2019 he was appointed as assistant choreographer for the production Chotto Xenos directed by Sue Buckmaster. He also restaged AKC repertory at Stuttgart Ballet\, Stanislavsky Theatre\, Introdans\, IT DANSA. Mauro Bigonzetti (born 1960\, Rome) is one of Italy’s pre-eminent dancers and choreographers. His training began at the Rome Opera Theatre\, where he studied and worked from 1972 until 1983. The following year he joined Aterballetto as a dancer\, where he remained for ten years before leaving to focus on choreography. His first creation\, ‘Sei in Movimento’\, was presented in 1990. In 1997\, he was named Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of Aterballetto\, a position he held until late 2007. He has since choreographed for companies around the world\, including English National Ballet\, Stuttgart Ballet\, Staatsballet Berlin\, Ballet del Teatro Argentino\, New York City Ballet\, and Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse.
