During sessions with Elena three dimensions will be explored: the floor\, partnering and the air.  \n  \n  \nAbout Elena Ciavarella  \n  \nElena Ciavarella started training in contemporary dance in France\, at the CNR of Boulogne Billancourt\, In 2001 she attended the professional course of Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti in Italy. She obtained a degree in Cinema and Performing Arts at the University of Pisa in 2003\, before moving to France where she obtained the DE (dance teacher national degree) in contemporary dance at the CND in Lyon in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Development of international artistic and cultural projects at the University of Lyon2.  \n  \nShe danced for several companies in France and Italy: Opus ballet\, Rome Opera\, cie Faizal Zeghoudi\, cie Redha\, cie Eva Luna\, Collectif Dynamo\, cie Ezio Schiavulli\, Teatro all’improvviso\, cie Arabesque\, cie Nadège Cabisidan…  \n  \nIn 2008 she founded Collettivo Unico\, with which she carried out numerous research projects in collaboration with international companies such as Delfos (Mexico)\, Cortocinesis (Colombia)\, Adarte (Italy)\, Cie Ezio Schiavulli (Italy). Zoe started her professional dance journey with ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a full-time dancer. As a freelancer her roles range from dancer\, performer\, maker\, educator\, rehearsal and movement director and seamstress. She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. During Zoe’s open sessions we move away from focusing on aesthetics and learning stylised movement and move more towards finding and investing in how each of our bodies like to move. ŻfinMalta is hosting Nico Monaco to lead a contemporary workshop for dance practitioners from 15 years and over. \n  \nThis intensive is aimed at students of dance over 15 years old looking for an immersion into new techniques and vocabulary as well as adults who want to get physical. \n  \nŻfinMalta Dance Intensives are curated as themed experiences\, focusing on a particular movement technique and exposing participants to guest teachers commissioned who contribute to company dancers’ training.   \n  \nIn his workshops\, Nico draws from his experience with renowned choreographers the tools that allow the dancers to increase the knowledge of their bodies and their movement by combining technical exercises and guided somatic improvisation. \n [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text] \nAbout Nico Monaco\n  \nNicola Monaco trained in Italy where he attended the professional course of Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti. Zoe started her professional dance journey with ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a full-time dancer. She has been leading the Iżfen contemporary sessions since their start in 2021 and is excited to be back leading this growing and developing platform. \n\n\nIżfen is a space where people of any dance experience are welcome. Mauro Bigonzetti (born 1960\, Rome) is one of Italy’s pre-eminent dancers and choreographers. His training began at the Rome Opera Theatre\, where he studied and worked from 1972 until 1983. The following year he joined Aterballetto as a dancer\, where he remained for ten years before leaving to focus on choreography. His first creation\, ‘Sei in Movimento’\, was presented in 1990. In 1997\, he was named Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of Aterballetto\, a position he held until late 2007. He has since choreographed for companies around the world\, including English National Ballet\, Stuttgart Ballet\, Staatsballet Berlin\, Ballet del Teatro Argentino\, New York City Ballet\, and Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse. In 2016 he directed the Corpo di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala. Most recently\, he has staged ‘King Lear with the Stuttgart Ballet\, performed by Egon Madsen\, and ‘Madina’ at Teatro alla Scala\, performed by Roberto Bolle. The passionate and visceral gestures of the choreography are evocative of its wild\, Mediterranean origins. ‘Cantata’ is an intuitive dance that stages a continuous game of opposites\, sacred and profane\, man-woman\, sun and moon\, love and violence\, where music\, sounds\, voice and body are the main interpreters of the piece. Mauro Bigonzetti (born 1960\, Rome) is one of Italy’s pre-eminent dancers and choreographers. His training began at the Rome Opera Theatre\, where he studied and worked from 1972 until 1983. The following year he joined Aterballetto as a dancer\, where he remained for ten years before leaving to focus on choreography. His first creation\, ‘Sei in Movimento’\, was presented in 1990. In 1997\, he was named Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of Aterballetto\, a position he held until late 2007. He has since choreographed for companies around the world\, including English National Ballet\, Stuttgart Ballet\, Staatsballet Berlin\, Ballet del Teatro Argentino\, New York City Ballet\, and Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse. In 2016 he directed the Corpo di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala. Most recently\, he has staged ‘King Lear with the Stuttgart Ballet\, performed by Egon Madsen\, and ‘Madina’ at Teatro alla Scala\, performed by Roberto Bolle. A listening journey leading to the creation of words\, songs\, and dances we want to experience; to be and to become. The workshop will deliver tools that strengthen the genuinity and emotional narrative communicated in the arts. \n  \n‘There is a silent choreographer in each one of us that our own words can unveil. The sound and meaning of such words is the big conversation we might need to hear. An interior dancer manifesting how we live and what we are creating with our movement and thoughts; for and beyond the stage’. \n  \nSongwriting is a tool for discovering the words and power one needs to tell themselves or maybe even ‘stop’ telling themselves.  It is a release\, an insight\, a very important conversation one can have with themselves to see how and where they are\, what they need\, what changes can be made to lead to a happier state of being.  \n  \nWe hold the words that we need to hear\, say\, cry to\, laugh at\, be strengthened by\, even embraced and belong with. The truth is that we each are the only ones that know those words\, that silent dancer waiting to be unleashed.  \n  \nThe songs / and art created through such process carries a genuine narrative\, emotional\, physical\, human\, one that never fails to resonate with all who are witnessing and experiencing its delivery.  \n  \nIn this workshop Claire Tonna shares this practice and ways of how it can be applied to dance and other forms of creative work. \n  \n  \nWho can benefit from songwriting? \nEveryone. \n  \n  \nWhat to expect? \nA master class/workshop sharing the tools in songwriting that Claire uses\, develops and shares\, the foundations of which can benefit any dancer\, artist\, creator and any human being.  Participants engaging with this experience may dive deeper into their emotional intelligence a may discover the songwriter in them. \n  \n  \nAbout Claire Tonna \nClaire Tonna is a queer Maltese singer\, songwriter\, performer renowned internationally for her distinctively contralto voice and writing\, considered to be one that transmits the plural facets of human emotion and empowerment. \nTonna ’s works and performances have been taking place all over the globe in the last two decades inside theatres\, festivals\, LGBTQI+ spaces\, prisons\, slums\, refugee centres\, mental hospitals and many other spaces resonating with her truth filled music and vocation. The facets of her presence and voice are acclaimed to present the audience an experience of incomparable empowerment.
