Begin the new year by reconnecting with your body through gentle movement, somatic practices, and guided exploration. The Listening Body is a two-day immersive workshop led by community dance artist and educator Julienne Schembri, designed to help participants slow down, tune in, and rediscover movement as a source of awareness, wellbeing, and creativity.

Centred around the idea of “the listening body,” this workshop invites participants to explore how we attend to ourselves, to others, and to the environment through embodied presence. With a warm, inclusive approach, Julienne guides the group through somatic practices that nurture curiosity, choice-making, and co-creation.

Over two days, participants will:

  • Explore gentle movement rooted in somatic awareness
  • Develop tools for improvisation and intuitive decision-making
  • Practice attentive listening through breath, touch, and mindful presence
  • Engage in supported creative tasks that foster connection and shared creation

This intensive offers a grounding and restorative space to begin the year:

Perfect for all adults -including complete beginners- seeking to reconnect with themselves, whether or not they have previous movement experience. Those curious about the body, breath, and gentle movement, those seeking a mindful, nourishing start to the new year,  artists or movers wanting to expand their somatic or improvisational practice

No experience in dance or movement is required.
