11-14 years old:
Thursday 4th May & Thursday 11th May
ŻfinMalta Studios, Valletta
ŻfinMalta Dance Intensives are curated as themed experiences, focusing on a particular movement technique, and exposing participants to commissioned guest teachers who contribute to company dancers’ training. Intensives are best experienced in their entirety through package offers, however drop-in sessions are also up for grabs for a taster of the whole experience.
Hervé’s unique approach as a ballet master, is to develop exercises which connect the physical preparation and study of the ballet technique with its more organic side. Musicality, upper body awareness and coordination, placement of body weight in space, relationship to the ground, and quality of movement, are the elements that make Hervé’s classes accessible to both classical and contemporary dancers.
Hervé is also leading ŻfinMalta open company classes in which participants of 18 years and over may join the company dancers in their morning class. On the other hand, this intensive experience offers an exclusive, intimate and more focused evening programme for all 11 – 14 year olds to experience Hervé’s training.
Career-born out of Béjart Ballet Lausanne, Hervé worked closely with the same company as rehearsal assistant following his performing and training career there and subsequently re-staged Béjart’s choreographies worldwide. Palito also re-staged Nacho Duato choreographies internationally and served as rehearsal assistant and co-director of various companies and projects including LaLaLa Human Steps’ ‘Salt’, Aalto Ballet Theater, Ballet de la Comunidad de Madrid and 59° North.
Hervé is currently working as a freelance ballet master, artistic assistant and rehearsal director in various international companies and dance academies and has been invited as a guest teacher to Cullberg Ballet, Béjart Ballet Lausanne , Ballet Montecarlo, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Aalto Ballet Theater, LaLaLa Human Steps, Staatstheater Augsburg, Lyon Opera Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Ballet de Loraine, Hong Kong Ballet, National Ballet of China, Ballet Nacional de Santo Domingo, Royal Swedish Ballet, Scapino Ballet and Ultima Vez. Additionally, Hervé has experience in working as ballet master, artistic coordinator and artistic Director of Compañía Nacional de Danza, Spain and also as assistant to the director at the National Ballet of China.
