€30
On the 23rd November,  ŻfinMalta National Dance Company hosts international guest artist Francesco Ferrari (Damien Jalet, Anton Latchky, Sharon Eyal) who leads a movement workshop based on the creative process of his improvisation based work-in-progress ‘Selfless’.

Francesco’s workshop will focus on a sensorial, instinctive approach to movement improvisation: This session will be a study of a specific performative state, where the tension between mind and body might lead towards a distorted, contradictory physicality, and is applied to participant’s individual journeys, as well as applied to contact and partner work.

Find presence inside the moving body: explore imagery-based improvisation and tools to cross the space, including solo and partner work, floor work, and further training drills, before advancing to expansive, full-bodied movement phrases. An immersive and physically rich experience, and an opportunity to work with this exceptional movement artist.

He later covered the role of Project Rehearsal Director for the company, working on choreographies by Emanuel Gat, Colette Sadler and Joan Clevillé, whilst freelancing across UK, France, Lebanon, Italy and Germany, performing in productions including ‘Planet [wanderer]’ and ‘Vessel’ by Damien Jalet and Kohei Nawa, ‘Cents Mille Façons de Parler’ by Omar Rajeh, ‘Danse Macabre!’ by Jacopo Jenna, ‘Inlet’ by Saeed Hani, ‘ANIMA’, Netflix production directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and choreographed by Damien Jalet. In 2024, as part of ‘Venere in Teatro’ festival in Venice, Francesco performed his first solo work ‘Hide and Reveal’, of which a live-set version has been recently presented in Milan, in collaboration with Scottish-Portuguese sound artist and musician SHHE.
