Born in Malta in 1987, Martina first danced with the Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet, where she studied and taught the Legat System. She continued to nurture her love for performing and dancing throughout the completion of three degrees at the University of Malta; beginning with a bachelor’s degree in English and Archaeology, followed by a Masters in English, Modern and Contemporary Literature and Criticism. She simultaneously performed a run of weekly live shows in which she found a dance community and understood what life as a performer could look like. This led to a Bachelor of Dance Studies, which is where she was introduced to contemporary dance. Martina joined ŻfinMalta as a company dancer in 2014, made the transition to the role of Education & Outreach Artist in 2018, and in 2021 took on Administration, being officially appointed ŻfinMalta Head in 2025. Through this role, Martina continues to explore and share the notions of growth and connection through dance and give back to the scene that inspires her so much. Becoming a mother in 2024, Martina humbly acknowledges that life is a rollercoaster ride that she will never stop learning from.
